Susan Peña, MS
For the past 17 years, Susan Peña has worked to coordinate successful planning, financing (tax exempt bonds or bank loans) and development of senior living community new development, expansion or repositioning projects (some of which included multiples stages/phases) ranging in project budget from $10 million to over $100 million. Fifteen of those years were in her role as Vice President-Planning and Finance with Greystone Communities. She has coordinated the completion of over 30 planning engagements including development, redevelopment, expansion and business improvement plans as well as 15 developments including new start-ups, repositionings/redevelopments and expansions.
Prior to this experience, she worked to set up and oversee the management of 20 business offices for their managed senior living communities including financial accounting and related interfaced systems, hiring and training business office staff, financial reporting, budgeting, internal control systems, policies and procedures, purchase order systems, training of department managers in financial management and budgeting, year-end audits and Form 990 preparation. She also set up and oversaw the development accounting services of the organization including draw package preparation, development cost tracking, projections and bond fund investment tracking.
On top of her significant experience in senior living, Susan is a Certified Public Accountant in TN (active) & TX (inactive). She graduated from the University of North Texas with a Master of Science: Tax Accounting/Bachelor of Science: Accounting. She also achieved the Retirement Housing Professional ("RHP") certification.
Susan focuses on delivering the highest level of client service to senior living and care providers through the development and implementation of cohesively integrated strategies. Susan is an engaging and respected leader. She is very successful at bringing team members together, driving execution of plans and strategies developed to meet clients’ goals.
